Non-confidential research portfolio

Smart Cities and Sustainable Development Academy

A nonprofit applied research platform for smart cities, digital built environments, smart infrastructure, and sustainable urban systems.

Purpose

Institutional evidence, written for international academic review.

This English site presents SCSDA as an institutional research platform, while making clear Dr Daguang Han's founding and executive leadership in the Academy's early platform-construction period.

2019platform establishment

SCSDA was established in Chongqing in 2019.

12research centres and labs

Reported for the 2019-2023 platform-construction period.

49IP outputs

Reported in the implementation report for the construction period.

61research papers

Reported in the implementation report for the construction period.

Leadership evidence

Built around platform leadership, not personal promotion.

SCSDA is presented first as a research-organization website. Its UK-facing value is that it documents how Dr Han helped initiate, structure and coordinate a research platform across BIM, digital twins, sensing, smart infrastructure and sustainable urban systems.

During SCSDA's early platform-construction period, Dr Daguang Han served as the principal responsible person and founding executive lead, coordinating research-centre development, international expert engagement, enterprise-facing applied research, and externally supported research-platform delivery.

Evidence map

A reviewer-facing bridge between the Academy and Dr Han's academic case.

The Evidence page explains how SCSDA supports Dr Han's UK and European academic applications while keeping institutional claims cautious, public-facing and source-bounded. This is deliberately stronger than a personal profile, because it lets reviewers see an institutional record and Dr Han's role inside that record.

Research themes

Digital built environment, smart infrastructure and sustainable cities.

The site foregrounds research areas that align with UK and European academic posts in digital construction, construction informatics, infrastructure resilience and sustainable urban systems.

BIM, Digital Twins and Reality Capture

Building information modelling, bridge and building digital twins, point-cloud processing, laser scanning, and model-based engineering assurance.

Supported by SCSDA's BIM and Digital Twin Research Centre and selected bridge, curtain-wall and enterprise BIM projects.

Smart Infrastructure and Structural Health Monitoring

Data-driven monitoring, sensing, performance assessment, lifecycle health evaluation, and infrastructure resilience for bridges and complex structures.

Supported by smart infrastructure centre materials, bridge monitoring projects, and Dr Han's wider digital structural engineering record.

MEMS Sensing and AIoT for Built Environment

Micro-electromechanical sensing, sensing modules, AIoT integration, and field-oriented sensing approaches for built-environment applications.

Supported by SCSDA smart MEMS sensing centre records and implementation-report outputs.

Sustainable Construction and Circular Materials

Sustainable urban systems, recycled construction materials, green construction methods, and applied research for lower-impact built environments.

Supported by SCSDA sustainable materials and construction-waste research-centre records.

Selected case studies

Public-facing examples of applied research platform development.

These examples are intentionally limited to public, non-confidential summaries. Sensitive or security-adjacent topics from older records are not foregrounded on the English site.
